How to find the documentation
This guide shows you where to look when you want to know how to do something in Dolpher.
Ask the game
Most answers are in the game itself. In the play page's command box:
-
Type
help(or?) for the list of commands. Each line shows the command, what it takes, and what it does. A#stands for something you type, such as a direction or a name:Link # # # Link the exit at direction # to a room # at its direction # -
For the commands that take a keyword, ask for their own lists:
Type To see show ?What showcan list: exits, an object, the room's details.set ?What setcan change in a room you own. -
Type a command with nothing after it. Many commands that need more tell you what to type. For example,
unlinkalone answers:To remove an exit, type UNLINK <direction of exit>.
Editor forms, such as the one customize opens, have notes under their
fields. Each message field also shows its default text.
You can shorten any command to the first letters that no other command
shares: cust for customize, l for look, i for inventory.
Read the guides
Click docs at the top of any page of the Dolpher site, or go to
/docs/ on it. You can keep the guides open in a second browser tab while
you play. Start with these:
Ask a person
- Type
whoto see who is playing now. Ask them withsay, or with'for short:'how do I get out of here? - Ask your admin. Admins can do things you can't, such as move you out of a room you can't leave, or raise the number of rooms you may own.
